Highly Selective Carnivore

Fiona knows all about the food chain and she's never had any problem with the idea that animals eat animals. Maybe it's just because she realizes the alternative would be to eat more greens, but she's a happy carnivore. Sometimes she'll ask what kind of animal makes a certain kind of food and then plunge her fork right back into dinner.

Until the other night. She asked what makes steak, and I said it came from a cow.

"You can't eat a cow!" she protested.

"Sure you can," we replied.

"But a cow's a girl!" she said. "You shouldn't kill girl animals!"

I wonder how long it'll be before she figures out what chicken comes from.
